Thanks Shawn. I probably should move to a dedicated server just to reduce the possibility of a crash in the future, but the cost seems a tad prohibitive for now.

In the mean time, I'd love to see if a full-scale digg can kill this site for a while. I guess I better writ something truly fantastic, eh?

Hey, congrats on the digg. I had my first digg about a month ago on my tech site and it instantly brought the server down. I was disappointed and after another failed digg, I upgraded to a dedicated server which solved the problem.

As for effects from a digg, mine were all positive (well aside from 99.9% of digg users being hateful in comments). But, I got about 30k hits in two days and a nice 'bonus' as far as ad money goes. But now I think I have been put on the "secret ban" list, as my stuff just disappears for no reason now.

Well if you get hit by a really big Digg (30,000 visitors) then you might have problems... but an average Digg shouldn't kill the server.

Thanks. I do use WP-Cache - I wouldn't run a blog without it.
I guess I don't have to worry about a server crash, even if the bury brigade doesn't come around. Good to know.

Congrats!

By the way, do you run WP-Cache? Turn that sucker on and even a pentium can handle the Digg-effect.
