Do you use Squidoo?

Squidoo is one of those services that I’ve known about for awhile, but only recently got around to trying out. Here’s an overview.

What is Squidoo?

Squidoo is a website owned by Seth Godin, one of my favorite marketing gurus. On Squidoo, you can create what’s called a “lens”, and customize it to your liking. The lens can include pictures, links, and of course text. The lenses are monetized by Squidoo, with Amazon affiliate links as well as Google Adsense. You can choose to collect the earnings from your lens, or donate it to charity. The service is free, of course.

How can Squidoo help me?

Well, the revenue of course, though I don’t know anyone who’s making any significant income through the service. But more important than direct revenue is the topic of links. Squidoo is seen as an authority site by Google, and the lenses have the potential to rank well. Even if they don’t , the link on your lens that points to your actual site or blog is worth more than the average link.

My experience with Squidoo

I opened my Squidoo account a few weeks back. I created a lens for Green Llama there just the other day, though it’s very basic. Currently it’s just a picture of the Green Llama, a quick blurb about the site, and links to the most recent topics ( it pulls from the RSS feed ).

I’ll be honest when I say that I don’t really know where to go from here. I’m sure I could spruce it up some if I spend a bit of time on it, but I don’t know if that will have much effect. I can’t help but think my time would be better spent working on the blog, or on affiliate programs.

So now it’s your turn – do you use Squidoo, and how has it helped you? Also, if you have any good ideas for lens improvement, let me know – I’ll be glad to listen.

Alright, I’m convinced. I should get an award for having the most oddball, wierd, strange, non-targeted Adsense ads in the world.

A post about Squidoo gets Sexy Babes and Sexy Singles ads. Oh and Playboy necklaces. Fantastic.

Green Llama is a place to learn about making money online. Any ideas or walk-through's I have, I'll post here for your enjoyment. I also do product and online service reviews.

However, I tend to run off on tangets quite often. I call this part of the site 'random crap'. Basically I'll go off and post about whatever I want, just to keep things interesting. Have fun and stay tuned.
