Top 5 Money Makers

Darren at Problogger is having another Group Writing Project, this time on Top 5 posts.  There’s a cool grand up for grabs, so hopefully I can get lucky and snag first prize.  I decided to put together my top 5 money makers.

  1. Google Adsense – Still far and away, one of the best ways to make money online.  Many scoff at Adsense, and declare it the mark of an amateur-ish website, but there is a reason that so many use the program – it works.  It is (relatively) consistent and can earn you a good amount of cash if used properly.
  2. Text Link Ads – For those who think Adsense is too intrusive (really??), Text Link Ads offers a good alternative.  Sign up as a publisher, install a WordPress plugin and a simple piece of ad code, and you’re off.  TLA will sell small, unobtrusive text links, and give you half the proceeds.  No further work is needed from you.
  3. AzoogleAds – One of my favorite affiliate networks.  There are so many offers to choose from, covering just about any niche.  The support is fantastic, and you can almost always reach your account manager via IM, phone, or email.
  4. CPA Empire – Some people shy away from CPA Empire because of the owner’s questionable history in the spam business.  That is what it is, but it didn’t deter me from trying CPA Empire, and it hasn’t deterred me from being successful with them.  CPA Empire specializes in zip / email submit offers – so if you’re interested in going that route, they have the best selection that I’ve seen.  If that isn’t your thing, there are plenty of other offers available.  FWIW, I don’t like the interface at CPAE at all ( Azoogle’s is 10x better ).  Hopefully they’ll get around to doing an upgrade in that area.
  5. Kontera ContentLink – I know, I know.  Many people don’t like these ads.  But they show considerable promise in monetizing sites – and once the account is set up and the code is in place, there’s no more work on the publisher’s part.

These are by no means the only ways to earn money online – just the top 5, in my eyes.  Of course, the astute among you will notice that I left out direct advertising.  The reason I left that out is because the average Joe can’t realistically expect to pick up direct advertisers.  You’ll need to be fairly established to get to that point.  I try to stick to methods that most people can reasonable use and expect to make money from.

I use 1 and 2 and make some OK money with it. I don’t like Kontera that much, I think they work best when you don’t have any other kind of advertising on your site.

Check out my group writing post on my blog.

GreenLlama

Green Llama is a place to learn about making money online. Any ideas or walk-through's I have, I'll post here for your enjoyment. I also do product and online service reviews.

However, I tend to run off on tangets quite often. I call this part of the site 'random crap'. Basically I'll go off and post about whatever I want, just to keep things interesting. Have fun and stay tuned.
