Sometimes it’s ok to lose readers
Yes, I said it. And I’ll say it again to make sure it’s clear - sometimes it’s ok to lose readers. Every now and again, you’ll say something that offends someone, and they stop reading your site. Perhaps you put up an advertisement that they didn’t like - maybe they hate Kontera ads. At some point, you need to decide whether you’d rather have traffic or income.
If someone unsubscribes from your blog, or just stops visiting over an advertisement that they don’t like, then you’ve lost nothing. They weren’t a loyal reader anyone, and you shouldn’t lament them leaving. If you stick to your writing style ( whatever that may be ), then your loyal readers will stay put, even if they don’t like your design, or your ads. So if you have a chance to make some coin, go for it - the important folks will stick around. The rest can go their own way, and you shouldn’t lose any sleep.

Very true…
You can’t please all the people all the time.

And often it’s not worth trying to. Saves a lot of time and headaches.

Usually, if you’re writing stuff that’s offending people to where they leave, it’s either really good for others (new readers) or really bad in general (soon, no readers). I do agree though that some times, controversy is necessary.
