June 2007 Online Earnings Report

june2007 It’s that time again – time for my monthly online earnings report.  For those who don’t remember, May 2007 was a record profit month for me – by a wide margin.  I knew going into June that it would be tough to build on the successes of May, and possibly even tough to maintain the performance.  That proved true, as my profits tumbled 22% in June.  While that sounds like a pretty tough month, it really wasn’t.  In fact, June 2007 was my second best month ever – it beat every month I’ve had besides last month.  I’ll take that any day.  Here’s the breakdown:

Adsense

June was a tough month for me in the Adsense department – it is the main reason that my income dropped over May.  Adsense revenues came in 35% lower than May – not so good.  But they were within a few dollars of my second best Adsense month,so not bad overall.  Adsense revenue made up 37% of my revenue, which is a drop from the 49% it made up in May.

Text Link Ads

Text Link Ads took a healthy jump in June, partially due to a site I purchased that came with TLA revenue.  TLA income was up 71% – and made up a much better than expected 18% of total income for the month.  That’s up from 9% a month before – and something I love to see.  Revenue streams like TLA tend to be more stable than CPC programs like Adsense or Kontera, and I love to see them make up a larger portion of my income.

Linkworth

My third month with Linkworth proved to be solid, with LW income up 35%, and contributing a total of 7% to my monthly income.  Like TLA, I expect LW income to keep getting better and better.

Kontera

My Kontera revenue dropped 7% this month – but that really doesn’t hurt my feelings at all.  A 7% drop is easy to make up, and I expect things to turn around this month.  Kontera accounted for a whopping 31% of my total income for June – nearly as much as Adsense.

Affiliate Programs

My various affiliate campaigns added up to a negative 5% of my total income.  As a result, I’ve decided to shut down all my PPC campaigns, and focus only on affiliate offers on current websites.  I may change my mind in the future, but for now, I’m tired of affiliate losses.  PPC marketing isn’t for everyone, and it seems, it isn’t for me anymore.

Sponsored Posts

Not much on the paid posts front – income from here made up just 2% of my income.  Not much to speak of here.

June 2007 Overview and looking forward

While on the surface June was a troublesome month, I’m very happy with the results.  I’m continuing my move away from a heavy dependence on Adsense, into more stable areas with Text Link Ads and Linkworth.  I’ve shut down some unprofitable affiliate campaigns, and expect to see a small profit in the affiliate area next month.  Overall I really couldn’t be much happier with the month, and can’t wait to get July rolling.

2007 Year to Date

june 2007 ytd As the year to date chart shows, June 2007 wasn’t a disaster, but rather a huge success.  With the exception of my exception May, June was my best month yet by a pretty wide margin.

I am going to continue forward working on the same things that have brought me success over the last few months.  As they say, content is king, and contextual advertising goes hand in hand with great content.  No matter how much I dislike my strong reliance on Adsense, both it and Kontera have been my biggest earners for quite some time.  If that’s what it takes to make lots of money, then I’m all in.  On to July – and breaking records.

It’s no “John Chow” success story, but I think I’m doing alright 😉 I think the breakdown helps give people ideas about what is working and what isn’t.

The summer is usually a harder time to make money, up until after the labor day holiday.

Leroy, just to let you know, the blog traffic challenge is over and if you want to you could submit your results to me at:

I’m really interested in making money selling links, I’ll have to look closer into that. Nice analysis, it was an interesting read! 🙂

    Thanks for sharing.

The Kontera results are quite surprising, as you said.
