How to Start a Business
I’ve written before about my experiences with forming an LLC, and why I thought it was the best choice for me. I didn’t go into any of the other choices, mainly because they didn’t apply to me. However, LLC’s aren’t right for everyone that wants to form a business. IncParadise shows you the three main choices - LLC, S Corporation, and C Corporation, and when you should choose each.
Incorporation fees vary by state, and you can find a least of each state’s fee here. IncParadise charges an $89 fee in addition to the state fee - pretty reasonable. Some companies charge several hundred dollars for the same service. You can file in any state, with Georgia corporations being one of the most popular. I decided to form my LLC in Delaware myself, but it’s ultimately your call which state you choose.
One thing to remember when forming your business entity is to get a registered agent in the state you file. The fee varies by state, and has to be paid yearly. IncParadise does offer this service, to keep things simple. It’s definitely no fun registering your business with one company, and trying to hunt down a registered agent elsewhere.
