Then I came across this post and thought "WTF!". I don't blame you for being sceptical - it does looks like a spam email. The other thing that just grabbed my attention is that TLA will lose many thousands of direct links to their site. I know they're pretty much an authority in the world of text link ads, but having all those links out there with good, solid, anchor text probably didn't hurt. Now that it'll all disappear, what will happen to their SE rankings? I really don’t know what they were thinking.
