Cingular 8525 to be first US Hermes device
24 August 2006
Unofficially, Cingular will be the first US carrier to offer their flavor of the HTC Hermes. This smartphone will be known as the Cingular 8525. The major upgrades include the badly needed faster CPU, a scroll wheel, UMTS/HSDPA, and a slightly redesigned keyboard.
The 8525 is slotted to replace the 8125 in Cingular’s lineup. While I don’t see many 8125 owners upgrading to the 8525, it sounds like a solid next step. Via the unwired.

What’s the release date. The reason they uninstalled the front camera was to make the 9125 with both video conferencing and ptt.

Hi Diro,
I haven’t heard the release date yet - as soon as I do you can be sure I’ll post it.
Thanks for the info on the front camera - I thought it was goofy, but you make a good point. I didn’t know Cingular even supported PTT - good to know.

Nahel - No worries, the Cingular 8525 will definitely have Wi-Fi. It’s looking to be a fantastic device.
